The Current Log of Claims for consideration is:

  1. A Multi-Employer Enterprise Agreement that can cover any apprentice engaged by a Group Training Organisation in a Communications, Electrical, Refrigeration, or Plumbing Apprenticeship.
  2. Protect Income Protection Insurance paid for by the employer. (Insurance cover through Protect for injuries that occur outside of work and will provide 100% of your income up to $1000/week if you are sick or injured for more than 14 days)
  3. Severance Fund Payments of $50/week for apprentices paid into Protect. (Severance funds are independent funds that hold employee entitlements that will pay out the money if your employment ends, for any reason, including redundancy or termination)
  4. Apprentice hourly rate to be calculated based of the Host Employers Enterprise Agreement, not the Award.
  5. Apprentices not working for a company with an Enterprise Agreement to be paid the award rate plus $1 per hour.
  6. Apprentices to receive any Project or Site Allowances payable under the Host employer’s enterprise agreement.
  7. Apprentices working for a host that pays a higher rate of Travel/Fares Allowance to receive the higher rate.
  8. Apprentices receive Travel Allowance every day to attend work (including trade school, or any work-related courses), regardless of starting location.
  9. Travel distance, 50km radius, measured from home location, not work.
  10. No time and a half, overtime starts at double time.
  11. Every Apprentice to be able to opt in or out of 36-hour week (two RDOs a Month).
  12. Inclement weather provision for all apprentices, regardless of the host employer. 35 degrees out of the direct sun, and 37 go home. Apprentices cannot be relocated on the same day or after the temperature hits.
  13. Employer to provide any written/physical standards copy, required for trade school, at no cost.
  14. Apprentices get to select the brand of all their PPE, at no cost, to ensure all PPE is of a suitable size, comfort and fit to the individual. This includes shirts, pants and boots.
  15. All electrical apprentices provided personal lock out kits at commencement of their apprenticeships.
  16. GTO to establish consultative committees comprised of Apprentice delegates from each year of apprenticeship and trade group, the CEPU, and management.
  17. A Union Delegates Rights clause, that allows apprentices to elect at least one delegate from each year level, of each apprentice vocation.
  18. The CEPU to be given 30 minutes at apprentice inductions, to explain the Union to new employees, without the employer present.
  19. Cbus as the default superannuation fund for apprentices.
